There are a myriad of settings for the program and possible I haven't discovered these but... I have specific places to "bookmark" so I tried the locked tab which is good as it will always open to that location, the problem is if I open a folder that the locked tab is set to, a new tab is opened. Is there a setting to open selected folders within the locked tab but still maintain the original locked tab location setting instead of opening a new tab?

I have a couple hundred folders that relate to different projects. After browsing down the list and opening one to display its conttents, upon closing (backing up using the breadcrumb bar), the list goes all the way back to the top. Is there a setting to keep the list at the point where it was entered?

When having the tree pane open and browsing the folder list in the second pane, Is there a setting to turn off the tree sync?

Hey Jon_AK,
For your first question, checkout Lock Home Zone. You can find info on it under "Tabbed Browsing" in help. Establish the main folder as "Home" - right click on the tab to do that and also select Lock Home Zone. When you browse sub folders under the main folder in which you have the tab set, all the sub folder locations you go to will stay in the same tab. If you then hit Go Home (by right clicking on the tab or press alt-home), it will return to the main folder. It's good when you have a main photo or wallpaper folder and under it a bunch of sub folders for different categories of photos. When you visit the sub folders they stay in that same tab. You don't need to have Lock Location if you have Lock Home Zone and in this case all you need is Lock Home Zone. Also establish a default tab so when you go to other miscellaneous locations which you don't have a tab set for, they all stay in the same default tab and it's not making new tabs for all these locations you visit. I call mine "Roaming: with the drive and folder after it. So in the Rename Tab dialog I'd have - Roaming: <drive>\<folder>

On question 2 did you check out "Show Downward Path" by right clicking on the Bread Crumb bar. I think that may be what you are after.

Last question, since here's is only one tree the 'active' pane will respond to the location you select in the tree, and the inactive pane will remain where ever you last left it.

activate Configuration > Tree and List > List > Select last used subfolder

View > Lock tree. Also, You may benefit from the Mini tree (View > Mini tree > Mini tree, if you haven't enabled it already)

thanks for the tips. Using the home zone helps and the hot key to return to the top of the list isn't so hard to remember. I prefer to have a few select static bookmarks that will be in the designated location each time I start the file browser which was why i thought by locking the tab, it would prevent it from being changed but open folders in the same window instead of opeing a new tab. I used clover until i installed windows 10 and xyplorer works very well. Question 2, "Show Downward Path", not sure what it actually did by checking it but the only way so far to get back to the entry point is by using the navigation arrows. The setting "select last userd subfolder" was already selected by default but when navigating out of a folder, the tree returns to the top. i'm assuming the window opposite the tree is called the list . I don't use the tree pane all that often... just a bit busy. most of the time i have the list displayed and navigate within it using the breadcrumb bar. that is where i wish there was a setting that when you select the root folder, it would place you at your last entry point i.e. Root -> base folder -> sub folder1 -> sub folder1a inside folder1. base folder would be say 150 down the list of folders. navigate to sub folder1a and then when backing out using the breadcrumb bar, you wind up at the top of the list. if i use the navigation arrows, i end up at the base folder...150 folders from the top.
