They are saved to a separate file called ks.dat (which reads and writes much faster than the INI format). I currently do not see a point in adding any option here. It is unlikely that a user loads different sets of key-mappings because shortcuts are only useful when you can memorize them, and having alternative sets would defeat that.

I did no forget that another user asked for an additional INI-based interface. This might be added later at any point.

Duh, I just finished reading the beta notes more carefully where you wrote: "The shortcuts are saved in app path in a file called 'ks.dat'." Oy.

(That's the file I'll be looking to save eventually.)

6.00.0001 Memory cut in half on my machine

Post by zridling »

Although XYplorer 5.80x was only using a measly 13M on my system when fully loaded with previews and tabs galore, 6.00.01 cuts that in half. I've never seen that happen. Ever. Ultra-cool, Don.

And another, this makes my windows startup so much nicer:

Code: Select all

v6.00.0019 - 28.05.07 09:42
    + Added new command line switch to control the window state on start up:
        /win=min      -> start minimized
        /win=max      -> start maximized
        /win=normal   -> start normal
test everything. hold on to the good.

Just now getting around to saying THANKS for this one:

Code: Select all

v6.00.0014 - 23.05.07 09:01
    + List | Details View: up to now, after re-sorting the List by
      clicking a column header, the list keeps its current topindex, i.e.
      the scrollbar stays exactly where it is. With the frequent
      consequence that the currently focused item moves out of view due to
      the new sort order! And more often than not, I find myself scrolling
      for it after a sort... too bad.
      Added two things as a remedy:
        (1) A new option in Configuration | Advanced: "Keep focused
            item in view after sorting". If checked then the focused items
            stays in view after a sort (if possible). And not only in
            view, but -- again: if possible -- exaxtly in the same place
            in the view port. So your eyes don't have to go on a trip
            looking for it.
This makes post-sort 'user processing' much easier than before! :D
Still spending WAY TOO much time here! But it's such a pleasure helping XY be a treasure!
(XP on laptop with touchpad and thus NO mouse!) Using latest beta vers when possible.

Code: Select all

v6.10.0082 - 08.08.07 09:50
  %%% Incredible: Listing files (browsing and searching) ca. 15% faster!
      This involved a massive 12 hour rewrite of some core functionality
      (storage and handling of file times) based on an idea I got when
      standing on my head (Zen, baby...). Try it with care! (Standing on
      your head and the latest version.)

Wow!! XY is even faster...I feel the difference :D

This isn't a "thanks for xxx new feature" it's more "thanks for xxx existing feature."

The company I work for has an application that generates many binary and text files. I had to go through all the text files with a certain extension and make sure the data was getting generated in the correct format. Normally I would have to open each and every one in Notepad, verify the contents, then close down Notepad...too many clicks! XYplorer to the rescue....the combination of Filter By Selected Extension(s) and having the Raw View in the Info Panel saved me so much time and effort. How did I manage before XY? Anyway, I just wanted to say thanks to Don for such a great application!! There are only a few apps that I cannot live without, and XYplorer is most definitely one of them.

I put this in the originating wish thread but thought it belonged here also:

Code: Select all

+ Configuration File Info Tips: added yet another (super-)field to the bottom of the list: "Version Information". Shows the following six fields (if they exist) from the so-called "String Version Info", for example for XYplorer.exe:
j_c_hallgren wrote::D THANKS for this little improvement! It means I'll have to use the Properties function a lot less often, as I now can see most all the info I need via tooltip! And any reduction in need for right-clicks for this touchpad user is a very good thing! 8)

Code: Select all

    + Configuration Advanced: added option "Navigation commands in List
      context menu". Check to have the items Up, Back, and Forward in the
      List's context menu.
Thanks! :D

BTW I love the new Tabs style, cleaner/better looking now for sure. I like how active tab is taller too. I'd still love a little hover effect (eg. slightly lighter background color) but it's looking good, I think I'll use it!
Actually, I'm even wondering how it'd look like if it was used on Panel as well....

The Navigation commands was for especially you :)

I add the hover effect next time... once again mainstream beats mystream :wink:

Panel tabs: ... I won't try that now (I can't use the nice gradient ux tab background for one idiotic reason: the bloody VB checkboxes are not transparent! :evil: ).

Oh, I will surely mention it! On 10-10-2007 there will be the release of 6.40, together with a new price, a new license policy, the new GUI looks, and a lot of promo talk... and THEN, I will add all those nice little things on the road map... :D
