Hi,
Sometimes I perform several renaming operations over a group of files and I always wonder if it would be possible to record them for further uses (like a Macro).
Is there a way to do these things on XYPlorer?
Thanks
To record several rename operations. Is it Possible?

Re: To record several rename operations. Is it Possible?
an example or two would be nice...
by the way, did you know -- the special rename dialogs (File > Rename special) remembers a number of recent rename patterns, then add the fact that renaming also allows various wildcards, and you have a [rough] recipe for recording these operations.
Just do the rename using wildcards, then save the pattern in the sticky section (see help > index tab > sticky section). Later you select some similar files, and just pick that saved pattern from the rename dialog's dropdown list.
Recently I had to rename a truckload of images, would be crushed flat under the weight if not for this sanity-saving feature.

Re: To record several rename operations. Is it Possible?
Thanks Sammay,
Yes, I'm aware of it but I need to apply many different renaming operations on several parts of the strings. Many patterns and many variations on different places.
Talking about wildcards, I must confess that I have tried to understand how to use 'RegEx Rename' and 'Batch rename' features many, many times over the years. Now way to use more than just a bunch of the simplest operations contained in the provided examples
. I always end up obfuscated and in angrily mod, it's just beyond my capabilities.
The fact that the program remembers previously used expressions helps but, anyway, it's required to apply the same operations one by one (hence my question / request?).
I guess that, not having another easier solution at hand, scripting and RegEx would apply here (If could ever tame that, something, well... simply impossible).
Your tip on 'sticky section' is very useful. For what I've read it looks that it can be used on several different lists but I don't see any 'Sticky section' under List Management sub-menu or anywhere else and, sincerely, I don't understand where or how should I have to input the "-----> mru" string mentioned in Help. I don't understand either what's the use of the several 'List Management' windows.
Man, I feel so stupid in front of XYPlorer so often...!

add a new entry with just the mru text snippet. Then any entry you create or move above that becomes sticky.
here, the (.*) ... one is made sticky.

Thanks Sammay,
Now, I understand!
These basic operations should be included in help, IMO. Procedures with captions like this one under a section "How to".
