Network and Windows 7

Hi all,

I've reinstall my notebook with Win 7. I've a multimedia Disk normally viewed under Win XP (my workstation).
Under Win 7 I see it under the native file explorer but not under XYPlorer (last version).

I precise that I've copied my all profile from XP under Win 7 not to have to reconfigure XYPLorer.

In Win Explorer you see it as a drive letter, while in XY you don't see this drive letter? Is that what you said?

Not exactly.
In none of the explorers I have drive letters, it's only on the exploration process that I don't see anything in XYPlorer.

OK it works now, but I don't know why !
Yesterday, on closing my computer, I had no network displayed and this morning OK.

And I had reboot many times my PC yesterday after install XYPlorer.

Hm: fine!

By the way: there is no reason to boot PC after XY installation!
In general there may be something wrong on the PC, and a reboot might help. But this is independent from XY and it's install...

Sorry but it seems to be a bit more complicated.
My network is a multimedia hard disk drive, so it is not always switched on.

My HDD is switched on
- If I open XYPlorer normaly (forced to a fixed folder in an internal HDD), it doesn't view the network and nothing to do for that.
- If I open XYPlorer forced on a folder on the network, it views it and it works fine !
Now if I switched on and off my multimedia HDD, XYPlorer (staying opened) works file.
But,if I close XYPlorer (with my multimedia HDD switched on) AND I reopen XYPlorer it doesn't see it !

I don't know if I am clear enough !
What's the problem or where am I wrong !

What exactly do you mean by "multimedia HDD"?
Is it a regular NAS or one of those wireless home server thingies that connect to TV and radio and whatever else?

It is a HDD connected to my TV I used to record and see movies and so on.
Of course it is also connected to my local network.

Hm, I'm by no means an expert on routing VPNs and all that stuff, but maybe it would help if you posted a screenshot of the addressbar when you have a functional connection to that HDD, to see what the network path looks like, if it shows a drive letter anywhere it, etc.

This is the address bar:
\\Hmb\hdd1(sata)\REC\

wher Hmb is the device name on the network
hdd1(sata) is the name of 1st HDD
REC is a folder

In fact there is 2 HDD, this one inside and another USB one (outside) but viewable normally under Win XP.

Hi all,

I think I've resolved this point.
I've gived my 2 network paths a letter and XY doesn't search the UNC anymore when the network is closed.

And the delay between each command (even each click) as mentioned earlier by another user (but under Win XP) and which existed also under Win 7 has disappeared.

The pinpoint is that Windows tells it can't reconnect the drives, which is normal but painful.
Windows doesn't like the closed network.
