Catalogs: why are included ones not reloadable anymore?

Post by Filehero »

Hi,

when I have a catalog, included ones never get reloaded anymore except by XY's standard save on exit mechanism (here reported with 14.80.0200).

It doesn't matter whether reload is done via the catalog context menu ("Open..." as well as the botoom mru) or bei SC catalogload. Each time I do that I just either see

Code: Select all

"Catalog. Right-click for options"
or the originally imported catalog missing in the catalog pane.

Is this a bug or by-design? If the latter: why implementing the composite pattern only half (aka non-persistent) here?

Cheers,
Faulthero

Also,

when I have a composite only catalog with imported ones Toolez and Favorite Folders my manual sort order (Toolez on top) never survives the current session / a restart.
The convincing idea of reuse still seems a bit lacking here. :whistle:

@Don: bug or design?

I always want Toolez to stay on top on restart. Hopefully some day....

I'm lightyears away from Catalogs at the moment.

But this will change later when I completely rewrite the structure of catalog.dat. This will be the time to look at this again...

PS: Quickly looked at the code: It has always been like this. No bug AFAIK.

Include-> "Favorite Folders" uncheck, then
Include-> "Favorite Folders" check.

:shock: :shock: Thank you Sammay!! It Works!! :tup: :tup:

I simply unchecked both entries and re-added them using the include context menu. Now the order is persistent.

Lightyears away is a bad unit to use for this forum. You should change it to Rosetta. "I'm two Rosetta away." "I'm 10 Rosetta closer." "I fixing the problem at 25 Rosetta/second."

Anyway, that fix is kind of funny. It's just like those normal "did you restart your computer?" fixes that works almost all the time. :lol:

actually the order is just locked to the sequence they were included, so you need to re-add them in the desired order every time. :wink:

What time is "every time"? At home, after doing your trick the order is not session-only anymore but persistent now. That's what I was after.

Ok, now I see. I don't think so (will nevertheless recheck tonite), but since I need do set the order only once I'm satisfied.
