Searching stops and is cleared when clicking on other pane

Post by aplocher »

I just spent the last half hour searching a remote Sharepoint directory and it was probably about 50% done.

When I clicked in the other file list pane in XY, it stopped my search and cleared the results it had.

I don't know if this is by design, but if it is, this is a very bad element on the UX.

Thanks

Yes, the search is stopped, but cleared the results? This does not happen here.

BTW, I had a hard time stopping a search by clicking on other pane. Only a dbl-click on empty succeeded and that indeed is a bug that I just fixed now.

Thank you. I should have attempted to reproduce it before posting. I have spent quite some time, and am unable to do it again.

Here's what I remember:

- Split screen (side-by-side), left screen was doing the search.
- Clicked somewhere on the right side, not sure where exactly, but definitely in the right pane
- The search was against a remote internet-based Sharepoint file share (Office 365) and was slow, it was causing XY to lock up a little bit for a few seconds at a time, so my actions may have been queued up somehow. Even with that being said, I made a serious attempt to click nowhere near that cancel button.
- The only actions that maybe could have been captured (besides the clicking) would have been an ALT+TAB.

I'm also not able to reproduce it - even against that slow share. I dont know what I did exactly, but I will keep messing with it and if I find anything I will be sure to let you know. Thanks!
