If possible, leave included MDBU for *.RTF files by default.
These files are perfectly displayed as text and in large quantities have all users on the computer.

Re: MDBU for Office Files
Really? I never use RTF files for anything.
I don't think exceptions are the way to go. I'm still thinking about other ways...

Re: MDBU for Office Files
RTF format is fine for simple text formatting with illustrations, works on all versions of Windows and does not require to display third-party software - this format is good.

Re: MDBU for Office Files
PS: OK, I tested RTF, HTML, MHT, EML .., all work great indeed. So, it's just true MS Office files that fail on some systems. Sigh, I will be flooded with support mails, but anyway: I will reverse my recent decision and will turn on Office support by default in next beta.

It's possible that in 8 (or .1 or .1u1) or 2013 they improved the situation - all my testing has been restricted to Office 2010 on Windows 7 since that's what our IT is currently enforcing.Filehero wrote:Thanks. So, by my quick check their have been filters installed for Office 2013 on my machine.Stef123 wrote:Try this: http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/search_filter_view.html
Re: MDBU for Office Files
I have no office suite installed currently, but the default ifilters that come with windows works well enough!
For Word doc(x)/odt & other default MSOffice exts (xls...) only though...
btw, I'm late to the party, is mdbu supposed to:
* remove all formatting from docs?
* and display raw html and not extracted text?

Yes, raw text.
* and display raw html and not extracted text?
Untick HTM/L in Previewed Formats/Text and you get the extracted text. (probably only working in v14.40.0318 ... waiting for Flora_RMC...)
