Picture viewing wishes

Post by n2k »

Hello everybody,

First of all I'd like to say thanks to Donald, I'm really enjoying this great software!

I tried to describe the problems as detailed as possible so here are some things I came across while using the picture viewing capabilities of XYplorer (using v13.80.0100 on Windows 7 SP1 x64 with a dual monitor setup):
  1. When dragging images that are zoomed in or out (aka not at 100%) its kinda sluggish in Floating Preview
  2. When using Mouse Down Blow Up and the mouse is already at the edge of the screen, I can't view more of a picture because of that (using touch panning)
  3. An idea as default left-click function for the Floating Preview: zoom + touch panning in one, while being constrained within the Float Preview panel
    • have a setting for it to zoom to (%) while touch panning, maybe a setting for it to be constrained or not
  4. When using the settings shrink to fit + use whole screen, the picture will always show up on my main monitor, not the monitor XYplorer window is on
  5. For Full Screen Preview (F11) it's the other way around, this always shows up on my 2nd (non-main) monitor
    • while holding down the left mouse button it will show a Mouse Down Blow Up on the main monitor (the same happens when using a Floating Preview)
remark on this: when a picture is wider or taller than a resolution of my main screen, it will center it else it will be shown clamped on the right side on my 1st monitor
probably since my 2nd monitor is to the right of my 1st.
I know this is more stuff towards picture viewing, so it might not be high on your priority list. Thing is, its already so good and very close to replacing my other software package for viewing pictures. A big plus already is that it's content/list sensitive, meaning I can use it within searches!

Again, thanks for this great software!

Yes, currently I have other things on my list. Bug the good news is: I now have two monitors (I only have to set them up to work as dual monitor display -- any tips?), so one day I will be able to reproduce and fix these little issues. :)

Ah I see, well depending on your OS its quite easy to set up dual monitors.
On Windows 7 its as simple as right-clicking on your desktop then go to Screen Resolution and make sure the Multiple displays is on Extend these displays.
I'll probably be surprised one day if I update XYplorer, once you give these things some love

Don, just a reminder not to forget to combine this wish with one of my earlier wishes when you have the time :
"UDC Actions in Image Preview Window"
http://xyplorer.com/xyfc/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=11270

It came from a similar need since I also use dual monitors and I typically have XYplorer in my main windows while the floating preview in the other. So while I'm browsing images in the floating preview, it becomes a pain if I decide to save that image to a different location with UDC since I will have to travel my mouse all the way from my 2nd monitor to the first monitor where XYplorer is, refocus XYplorer, and then perform UDC, and then back to the floating preview. In some cases where I have the floating preview or even in full screen preview, I can't use UDC so I had to quit or close the full screen/floating preview, perform the UDC, and then back to full screen/floating preview. As you can see, there's a lot of mouse movement.
