Would it be possible to add an option in the Shell integration tab for the default file manager option to open drives and directories in a new tab, not the current tab?

Not necessary.

F9 - Jump to Setting - enter: open command
Select it and click ok, activate that option.

If you try to open a folder / drive inside e.g. Windows Explorer -> you get a new tab in XYplorer.
