Why do you need this? Does ES output UTF-8?Marco wrote:This until Don makes XY natively support PF encoded in UTF-8 without BOM.

Re: [Beta] Everything in XYplorer — Rev. 0.91 / 2014/07/07
Yes. Well, the Windows console, actually.
The process is very simple: XY PF needs UTF-8 with BOM. The console outputs UTF-8 without BOM. So the trick is: I first write a file containing the BOM, and then append to it the output of the console.
But I first need to give a name to such file. If I gave it as name the query then, during the ET search, the very file itself appears in the results. I could give it a "temporary" name and then rename it as a query as a workaround, but this would be another added step: not very elegant and another, possibly slow, access to the disk.
Anyway, I'm still not very convinced about naming the PF with the search query, because of the character escaping that I mentioned one post above.

Re: [Beta] Everything in XYplorer — Rev. 0.91 / 2014/07/07
I see. However: "UTF-8 without BOM"-detection is fallible. I'm not sure if it is a good idea to use this for PF files... We can make some experiments in phase 2...

I know, in fact there's a 3.9% probability of detecting the wrong encoding (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UTF-8#General)
Thanks for considering that, anyway.
And if you or somebody else has a good (elegant) idea for the name of the PFs, please don't be silent

Question for those who want to see the actual query: would a combination of tab title and comment be enough? (the first can be done only when the PF is opened for the first time by the script - the comment, like diamonds, is forever/for future reference)

I dont't undestand it quite right, can you give an example?
Actually anything that more or less resembles to the search term is more helpful than just the plain date.

Try the new version
You'll see the query in the status bar and as a comment if you go to <xypaper> (and have the Comment column enabled).
Displaying it in the tab title is problematic because the | can't be escaped (or at least I haven't found a way to do so).

Re: [β] Everything in XYplorer — Rev. 0.92 / 2014/07/08
Thanks, works as advertised.
I personally would prefer (have the option by some simple tweak in the code) to output the results to the same paper file always (overwriting any previous one). Then if needed I can "Save As" the data under a name of my choice. But more often than not I just need the results for immediate action, so no need to have them as a permanent PF (crowding my PF folder).

This one is easy
Just change the $paper to something static, like. That's it. Every search will overwrite this paper folder. The variable is already in the customizations section.
Also remember to change $regex accordingly, in your case. So you can use the Purge function too.
If this is the general consensus I'll modify the defaults in the next release.
EDIT: argh, tricky behaviour, doesn't work as expected. The PF you're viewing (old search results) is automatically saved when you change tab/location, overwriting the new search results.

Re: [β] Everything in XYplorer — Rev. 0.92 / 2014/07/08
Sorry, but it isn't much better I also thought about one static paper folder for the search results and with one static paper folder there's no need for the purge function anymore. When necessary, I can always save to a new paper folder with a desired name.
PaperList is a great Paper Folder script and maybe Everything in XYplorer would also be great for it or vice versa Then there would be all Paper Folder related stuff under one CTB

Re: [β] Everything in XYplorer — Rev. 0.92 / 2014/07/08
PL and ETinXY do very different things.
But I agree, one single paper folder that can be renamed/saved when necessary is enough for this script. After all, it also makes the code simpler!

(Still shell-shocked by , cannot think)
