The recycle bin is a great thing!
I miss the robust copy and container feature from x2 as well. Thats the only thing...
That might be a pro for TC as well. I like to pause the copying or moving process or make queues.

Hi and thanks! :D
Not totally sure what you mean be the other stuff but when I look at the roadmap I guess some of it will come this year...

By container feature I might think about what you call 'drop stack'. The roadmap looks great to me :)
Thanks in advance!
Everything a power-user needs ;)

Code: Select all

v8.80.0101 - 2010-02-05 12:18
+ Added Portable Tabs. With Portable Tabs enabled the locations of
tabs are stored relative to app path (in the pane.ini files) IF
app path is on a removable drive.
Portable Tabs are useful only when you run XYplorer from a USB
drive; it renders these tabs pointing to locations on app drive
independent from the drive letter assigned by the host system.
Currently available only as a tweak, let's see how it works out:
        [Settings]
        PortableTabs=1
I simply love the concept, once pen drive is my home and always had problem with several folders being opened on various computers.
Thanks, Donald!
-let's see how it works out soon... :D

Code: Select all

v8.80.0103 - 2010-02-06 18:23
+ Toolbar: Added button "Find by Tag". Gives you one-click access to
global tag-wise searches. For example, to search all local drives
for items tagged "Blue" simply click "Blue" from the button's
arrow menu. Should take a split second...

Code: Select all

v8.80.0102 - 2010-02-05 20:17
% Fast Tag Search: Further speed improvements!

Code: Select all

v8.80.0101 - 2010-02-05 12:18
%%% Fast Tag Search: New algorithm gets tag and comment search up to
warp speed, especially searches over large areas! Now you can
actually search whole drives or even MyComputer for "tag:blue" and
get results almost immediately. A definite k-i-l-l-e-r feature!
Caching results? Long indexing times? Can't find your favorites???
-Two in a row, this is going to be FUN!!!
Lightning speed - like a Ballistics race over LAN!!!
Thanks much, Don! This is definitely a KILLER feature!

Code: Select all

v8.80.0314 - 2010-02-19 14:48
+ Menu Panes: Added command "Backup to Other Pane". Does what it
claims to do. Default KS: Ctrl+Shift+F6.
    * Backup operations: No more "Done" message box when the operation is done. The status bar message has been pimped up to make up for it.
...now, I eagerly wait for the long-time promised Time Machine feature, so I can turn back 8 years in the past and start backing up stuff in the coolest manner possible... lol

THANKS MUCH again, Don!

-No more "Done" message dialog implies easy use of "Backup" function along with (another astounding feature!) scripts. Niiiiiiiice...

Yo, there you said it! This has always been my main development goal! XYplorer is a machine to reduce screen time. = )
XYplorer in fact is saving me lots of time plus aiding in reduction of stress on my injured arm when dealing with tons of files - there's still room for improvement, granted, but at least I can EXPECT that some time in the future X or Y features (sorry for the bad joke... lol) can come into play making it a valuable tool not only for computing life - but for having a better quality of Life!

So - thanks, Donald! This is not only about technology, and I believe this is what technology should be all about!

Waited a very long time (http://www.xyplorer.com/xyfc/viewtopic. ... =30#p26702) for the day I would post this message about the fix of copy operations on Windows Vista/7
So Thank You for implementing XYcopy :)

Queued File Operations

Thanks.

Absolutely stellar work, this was the sole reason I evaluated XYplorer against Servant Salamander (which I found to be too buggy).

Also named filters, brilliant. Much more intuitive, customizable, and structured than search-templates.

I'm a programmer myself, and I'm in awe of your dedication.

One thing that I'd like to briefly bring up, though:
I'd like to recommend XYplorer to people that I know, but who are not as technically skilled.
I find myself reluctant to do so, because I fear that it might be wasted on them, as they may feel overwhelmed by the options offered by XYplorer.
I would therefore suggest a "beginners" interface to XYplorer, where people can become accustomed to it, and move on to a more advanced interface.

Just my two cents. :)

This is where Config>Features might be of some use...as you can disable some of the more advanced items.

Two recently added features that i find incredible useful:
+++ Tree: Added new special folder <User> (the actual caption depends
on the current user name). Points to the current user's profile
folder (CSIDL_PROFILE).
and
+++ Text Preview. One-click instant preview for more than 50 different
text file formats. And you can freely add extensions to the list
of supported formats.
+++ Preview. Now you can easily add any number of new extensions to
all preview types (Text, Images, Fonts, Office, Web) right in the
configuration dialog.
Thanks, Don

! Quick File View, Text Preview, Raw View: Error "The process cannot
access the file because it is being used by another process."
(ERROR_SHARING_VIOLATION) when trying to view files that are
already opened by certain other applications. Fixed.
Great!

Still using 8.80.xxxx, and I cannot miss the case to mention that I last started it March 01 this year, and it still works without a glitch, almost 5 months of uptime with heavy daily use. I have forgotten why I had to restart it back then because the computer has even longer current uptime but I think this adds to the fact XY is the best file management program to date, for Windows. And as it seems, it gets even better.
Thanks!
