But I won't rewrite my whole stuff (I'm doing a major script touch up anyway because my 3 machine environments aren't completely interchangeable). Or maybe ....

As I have said before I only use a little tiny bit of XYplorer BUT the little tiny bit of it I really love.

Thank you Donald.

Flatten folder! I've been doing this the manual way for a long time until I discovered XYplorer's flatten folder feature. Great time saver.
Running on Windows 10 Pro 64-bit quad-core ASUS G752-VY notebook with 64 GB RAM, over 26 external USB3 drives attached via multiple powered hubs with letters and mount points, totaling 120+ TB.

This was a subject of some heated debate back in the day -- especially by yours truly -- but I am glad to have belatedly discovered that this was added about a year ago

Code: Select all

v15.90.0014 - 2015-11-07 13:01
+ Configuration | Startup & Exit: Added option "Autosave settings after this
many minutes" along with a field to enter the number of minutes (1 - 9999).
Tick it to automatically save all settings after X minutes, measured from
the last time all settings were saved, whether automatically or manually.
Factory default is 10 minutes, and OFF.
Note that Autosave will not happen just by itself but is triggered by the
following user actions if the specified number of minutes has passed in
      this moment:
        - Changing location (you browse to some new folder).
        - Tagging an item.
        - OK-ing the Configuration dialog.

+++ Quick Audio Preview. Mouse down on the file icon to hear the sound. Mouse
move to scroll. Mouse up to stop. MP3, WAV, FLAC, OGG... you name it. With
interactive progress bar. Probably the most convenient audio file previewer
on the planet.
very useful, many thanks!

Audio Down Up is really neat! Instead of having to get to the preview tab saves many clicks! Awesome!

Code: Select all

*** Custom Copy | Overwrite Prompt: Now the new file ("File to be copied") is
shown at the top, and the old file ("Existing file") is shown at the bottom.
Additionally a big arrow shows the direction of the operation in question.
It might look a bit non-standard, but it's a huge gain in clarity and
      hence usability.
Oh boy oh boy oh boy! Hell yes. I hate it whenever this happen I have to stop, double check, triple check, and then continue. This makes it a lot clearer. Although I don't know if it's just me but the arrow does not look well centered enough... Also what if you make it green?

Search by paths

Code: Select all

v17.50.0201 - 2017-01-31 16:46
+ Find Files and Quick Search: Added switch /paths by which you can
return items by the name of their parent folder of full path.
        /paths=path;path;path
My photos are saved in folders, which have a "date taken" (in the ISO notation, more or less) as a part of the folder's name. While in a melancholic mood, I sometimes want to browse through all the photos taken on "todays date", irrespective of the year. Since v17.50.0202 I can use the following search string for this, which - when saved as a search template (see Edit > Search Templates...) and then included as a one line loadsearch script into favorites - becomes a one click issue:

Code: Select all

*.jpg;*.avi;*.mov;*.mp4;*.mpg;*.wmv /paths="*<date mmdd>*"
This is a wonderful present - many thanks!

Had occasion yesterday to use this function in a real world situation as opposed to merely testing to see if it worked.

Very handy in the right circumstance :!:
