Unwrapping the Presents

Post by DixieCup48 »

All the new features found in v.21.40 were lovely Christmas gifts and put to use immediately. Especially nice was Shorten Filenames - an "automatic RegExp"

Nothing special, just the fact that Don's feature update storm shows XYplorer is alive and kicking.

Code: Select all

+ SC QuickSearch enhanced: New flag "t" includes the top folders themselves
      in a multi-location search
    * Small dialogs with a Live Filter Box: When the cursor/focus is in the box
you now can press ESC to clear the box and thereby reset the filter. Only
when the box is empty ESC will close the dialog.
thank you for implementing! small things, big results.

paperfolder(, , , "oz");

Thanks for this ability, I have been wanting to request this, historically I have been doing it the long way using SC savesettings, this will be much nicer.

a BIG one Thank you! :appl:

Code: Select all

    * Configuration dialog: Back to previous button order. The standard was not
      good enough.
% Paper Folders: From now on, Paper Folders are only saved to disk if
necessary (= if modified). Before they were saved on each tab switch (when
the PF tag was backgrounded) even if nothing had changed.

+ Configuration | Tabs and Panes | Tabs: Added dropdown "Buttons position".
Here you can choose where in the tab bar to show those "New Tab" and "Tab
      List" buttons.

+ Toolbar | Paper Folders: Added a new toggle to the right-click menu:
Explicit Save Only. Tick it to suppress auto-save of the current Paper
Folder on tab switch and on app exit.

+ SC paperfolder enhanced: Now you can set and retrieve the five options
that are currently only available in the right-click menu of the Paper
      Folders toolbar button.
      Syntax: paperfolder(name, [itemlist], [separator=CRLF], [mode=nl])
        mode:
o[z|p|d|e|i]= Set option (and return old setting).

    * Paper Folders: Improved the "Explicit Save Only" mode. Less disk access.

    * Paper Folders | Explicit Save Only: Now any implicitly created Paper
Folder source files are created as *empty* dummy files.

Code: Select all

+++ Added new Branch View type "Files and non-empty
folders". Here any folders that contain nothing or only empty folders (or,
in case of a search, do not contain any files that match the search) are
not listed in the Branch View.

Colored Boxed Branches!
(An old feature, but I've only just recently started using it.)
Very very helpful when you are working with similar or same material on 2 or more different drives and need to clearly keep track of which location you are in at any time. For example, source and backup drives containing the same files but where changes normally should only be made to the source drive first. Just set a colored boxed branch on one of the drives and you'll always know where you are right away.
Running on Windows 10 Pro 64-bit quad-core ASUS G752-VY notebook with 64 GB RAM, over 26 external USB3 drives attached via multiple powered hubs, totaling 80+ TB.

Code: Select all

+++ Color-Code Empty Tree Folders. Finally color filters can be applied in the
folder tree in a way that lets you spot all empty folders at a glance.
A joy!
