Pasting Files From Outlook

Would you please add an option where Pasting files from an email Client such as Outlook overwrites any files that have the same name as the files being pasted from Outlook? I don't really like the current way it is done where the files are pasted with a number such as -1 after them.

Thank you.

Hi and welcome,

I don't think this can be set: XYplorer relies on the Windows Shell file routines to handle files dropped into it (XYplorer can't use its own, much more customisable, Custom Copy for this), and I don't think the Windows Shell can be set to automatically overwrite files (presumably for safety reasons).

Would you please also add these features?

Be able to paste files at the bottom of the list.
Highlight the files dropped from Outlook.

Thank you.

I was just going to add the same request. The "add a number" method is annoying

I am curious why Windows would prevent it, though. If you do a regular drag-drop between folders with an identical-named file, Windows asks if you want to overwrite the existing file. Why should it behave differently when the file was copied from Outlook?

Addition
Found another message on the forum about Outlook attachments. Can drag-drop from Outlook directly to XY. *Then* it asks to overwrite the existing file. Problem solved!

Hi Jacksonmacd,

I have the same problem and have searched the forums for almost 2 hours, but cannot find the forum message you talk about. Can you point me to that message or tell me what the fix is? Thank you.

I have the same issue with pasting a docx attachment from outlook into xyplorer. It's not asking to overwrite but creates copies with -0x filename endings. When I save to desktop first and then drag&drop to folder, it asks whether I want to overwrite.

When I try to drag the same attachment from Outlook into the same directory with windows explorer, Windows asks whether I want to overwrite.

xyplorer Version: 20.50.0100 (trial)

I am just using this thread and am also not sure if the problem is perhaps on my side:

Dragging an attachment from Outlook (2016) onto XY List: On Drop the file is created (and overwritten, if it exists), but without any content (size 0). Can not tell how new this is and if it is only me. No problems dropping on MS explorer.

20.50.0200, WIn7.

Anyone else noticing this?

Yep, happens no more here too. Must have been some temporary administrator black magic. Sorry for false alarm.

I still have this problem, even on separate computers.

Well, it seems this has been fixed. It appears to work from me now.

That said, i do have another problem when dragging/dropping from SAP client that uses a temporary file location. See attached screenshot.

No, the file is not copied over.
