Select file by typing a part of it's name?

Post by highend »

Hi,

the basic feature is already implemented (typing the beginning of a file / dir name selects the first match in the active pane).

But what about being able to do this with only a part of the name (that can be anywhere in the name, not only at the beginning)? Being even more powerful, any chance to expand that to wildcard / regex capabilities?

Btw, is there an easy way to jump from the first match to a subsequent one?

Tia,

I recommend Spot'n'Jump section in the help file.

Thx LittleBig,

I was so used to this function in SpeedCommander without the need to go to the address bar and use a prefix for this kind of task...

Auf Jeden!

Brainstorming:

ABBA
Beatles
Big Country
Black Eyed Peas
CC Cash
Creedence Clearwater Revival
Alice Cooper
Crowded House
Doors
Fleetwood Mac
Typing "c" several times could jump to files starting with "c" or "Cc",
(then if there is no further "c" in the name jump to next file. So files like "CC Cash" will swallow "c" key press three times)

Typing "*c" could jump to anything+C,
like jumping to
"big Country"
"CC Cash"
"Creedence Clearwater revival"
and "alice Cooper"

I just added "Match anywhere" ... it's nice.

What's the difference between this and live filter (http://www.xyplorer.com/xyfc/viewtopic. ... 879#p59879)?
