[Request] 9 things for new Version !

I Request following things in the new version.
most of these things are avaible in other programs like Total Commander but i don't use those
programs as they're not as smooth,sexy in their look and working like Xyplorer.

1. Unicode font Support while renaming files.
(currently it shows non-english files names correctly, if the file already had such name
but if you try to rename any file with non-english character then it turns them into '???')

2. Verticle Info Bar

3. Implement Notepad++ like syntax highlight while doing previous of .js,.ahk,.xml,.css etc files

4. bigger icons (ability to Change size of icons) for ease on eye strain while working for long hours.

5. ability to set- Single click to open files / folders. (currently it works only in Tree view only)
and Ability to preview files in the Info Panel just by hovering the mouse over the File- not need
to click anywhere!

6. Ability to edit components of right click context menu. for performance boost.

now I'm getting greedy- so let me ask some more ...

5. the Image preview of Xyplorer is cool but it'll be even better if you input
ability to do slide shows and basic inbuilt image editor that can do
resize, crop, adjust brightness-contrast, add captions, arrows etc (like Snagit Editor!)

6. while previewing movie files- ability to do fast forward (increase speed) like VLC Player!

7. while doing thumbnail view of a folder containg many videos- it freezes for sometime,
with a new Divx icon coming in the taskbar and then making the thumbnails- problem is that
it'll do that thing everytime i switch to thumbnails view and revert to details view, and then again
do the thumbnails view.
I would appriciate if that issue is solved.

8. I would like it to show folders containing non media files as 'details view' and folders with media content
(pics / movies) - displaying them automatically in thumbnailed mode.

9. something like - if Xyplorer has the start menu and taskbar icons inside it. then it kills explorer.exe
automatically. then it'll relieve huge amt of RAM & CPU resources to be used in other purposes.
i don't have any icons on my desktop, as i use autohotkey shortcuts to run everything i need.
and I've not opened Windows explorer to view anything ever since i started using Xyplorer
but yet i need to keep the explorer.exe running because otherwise there won't be no
taskbar to see the minimized windows

if XYplorer adds it within the program. (the taskbar, system icons and start menu) then my poor laptop will be
able to breath easy with memory hog explorer.exe gone to hell.

I voted for "No this will make the program too big & slow", because it will really make XY slow and sloppy.

Please take no offense, but I have to explain few things.

To start with XY is a file manager, it is supposed to make file management easier and faster.
Secondary task maybe to be able to preview files so that one can see the content and go on with tasks such as editing that particular file.
What you are suggesting is in-built editing of photos, videos etc and to me thats not acceptable at all. I am an advanced user and I want to do those operations outside of XY because there are many good apps that are made exactly for editing purposes. For increasing brightness etc why not use command-line apps (like Irfanview) together with XY that will do exactly what you want here. Joining files can also be done without integrating anything inside XY.

> See points above. Simplest editing possible now is rotating image, look for rotate command.

> If you want to see later part of video use seek bar with left click.

> Seriously, you must be kidding. This reads "BLOAT" and I would have never tried XY if it ever had such a feature. But XY still will help here, because it supports all command prompt stuff and you can for example try this from address bar to kill IE:

Hello Mrunal, I think the "problem" with some of those features is also the amount of work and the efforts they would need to be implemented. I guess admin has to prioritize and evaluate every day the time/benefit ratio of the features he may code. So a full blown image editor or video editor will be always impossible to do. I personally wouldn't like them because I prefer improvements into the core functionality of a file manager but of course all opinions are fine. You might also experiment all the ways to make XYplorer work together with external applications, catalog, scripting, portable file associations and so on...

I have to say for me it was still an interesting read and I recognize the work that went into the screenshoots, I took the suggestions as creative thinking and an unheard point of view. Don might not comment every post, but there's no problem listening and talking to each other as users, I think it's always worth it and there might still be something good to see or to learn where we never think to find it.

That's right. I read every post but do not necessarily comment each one. With increasing popularity of XY that's simply impossible. Apart from the forum I get lots of emails every day.

You could just said that you wanted Directory Opus instead of XYplorer

I thought serendipity and the followsers had have said everything, but this wish is so much overkill... XY is a filemanager not a WindowsShell, when you don't like the build-in windows-shell you can replace it, read more here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_shell_replacement.
