Folder thumbnail border size

Post by kiwichick »

Please please please, Don, can we have a setting, even if it's an ini tweak, to change the size of the folder thumbnail border? Of course it depends on the aspect ratio of image used for the thumbnail but, for the ones that are square, I find it extremely difficult to differentiate between a folder and an image. Being able to make the border bigger would make it more obvious.

I actually wouldn't use thumbnails if folders worked like they do in Windows and showed a clear distinction between empty and not empty folders.

But, in XY, without thumbnails the folders look the same regardless.

I see your point. Next beta will be better:

Well, better for some maybe, but Don could you please make that change optional or as a tweak? I was looking at folder thumbnails like this earlier today...

...now as of Beta 22.30.0204, they look like this without me doing anything. Honestly, some people obviously do, but I have no need to see either larger or different colored borders to distinguish folders. Thanks.

Are you using the tweaks for the folder thumb background colors?

Me too, I need borders to distinguish folders, but don't need larger borders. . .

Yes Don, my settings have been:

Code: Select all

clrFolderThumbs1=16777215
clrFolderThumbs2=16777215
clrFolderThumbsBorder=16777215
Light or dark mode, they worked fine.

Thanks Don, I forgot to mention, though it's stated on the pic titles above, in both cases my padding setting is "1".

I have same problem.
ZoomToFill stopped working after this change.
thumbsconf('1,1,0,0');

My folder thumbnails above were also created using zoom-to-fill. Though in my case they are square.

Thank you Don for the clrFolderThumbsBorderWidth tweak in Beta 23.30.0205. :tup: :appl:

You do mention in the Beta notes that the tweak is "extra border width". For those interested, it should be noted that you can set that tweak to "0". It is with a "0" value that I have the same border as I previously had before Beta 22.30.0204 and as shown in viewtopic.php?p=200996#p200996
Thanks again.

Yeah, but this is true only if you are using those color tweaks. And probably that's only you. :P

Maybe true as far as color, but user omid above obviously also wanted a super thin border (only his border is yellow). He would only get that thin border with the tweak at "0".

It seems I can't get 1 pixel borders any more
When I set border to 0, there is no border at all and If I set border to 1, I get a border with two pixels.

I have a thumbnail padding set to "1" in Configuration. What is your setting?
