Assign Insert key to (de)select files
Assign Insert key to (de)select files
I couldnt find a way to do this but I want (like in NC) the Insert key to Select en Deselect files.
I know of the Shift-Space but my right hand thumb is already hoovering over the Ins key and so it would be much faster for me to select and de-select files.
Any possibility to achieve this?

he is asking(probably) when multiselect files and press insert key to...
Re: Assign Insert key to (de)select files
In NC, Total Commander I can can select, deselect files with the INS key (INS on the numeric keypad). And position the cursor to the next item.
Is there a way to do this in XYplorer?

Re: Assign Insert key to (de)select files
I like the idea! It's so basic, it just should be there. I'll add it.

Re: Assign Insert key to (de)select files
The curent behavior is not the same as most TC users like it.
Currently it simply toggles the selection of the current item which is not very helpfull.
It should select the current item and position the cursor to the next item.
This way one can go forward and select several items.

Re: Assign Insert key to (de)select files
Using the cursor down key.
The problem with XY is that moving the cursor to the next line removes all selections.
Do I miss some setting to avoid this ?

Re: Assign Insert key to (de)select files
What you describe is pretty non-Windows. It's behavior patterns from an older world, probably pre-2K. Don't think I want to go there.
In Windows:
- To move the focus without changing previous selections: Ctrl+Arrow up/down
- To select the next item (and all between the pivot and the next): Shift+Arrow up/down

Re: Assign Insert key to (de)select files
I know all this Windows keys and behaviour and use them.
But using TC or XY doesn't mean that all functions most be the same as in Explorer

I don't know of many TC fans among the XY users. Maybe because these things are missing? I need more begging to get active.

Re: Assign Insert key to (de)select files
Perhaps, he means the way @Horst / TC want/have it..
Which it seems really handy...

Re: Assign Insert key to (de)select files
Well yes, I meant as Horst described/explained it.

Re: Assign Insert key to (de)select files
Again, how do you skip an item (one that you don't want to select)? I want to understand the ergonomics of these weird behavior patterns.
