Yes, that's how it works here in File Explorer (win 8.1). But the Ctrl+Shift+Down part does not seem to work in XY. I'll repair that.

Re: Assign Insert key to (de)select files
@jupe thanks!
@admin I'm still wondering what Ctrl+Shift+Space is reserved for? It does not select anything and I cannot assign it for anything. Any particular reason why it does not work the way it does in Explorer?

Re: Assign Insert key to (de)select files
Is there any difference to Shift+Space in Explorer? I don't see any?

Re: Assign Insert key to (de)select files
Shift+Space is fine, but Ctrl+Shift+Space does absolutely nothing here.

Re: Assign Insert key to (de)select files
I know. Question is: What does Ctrl+Shift+Space in File Explorer?

Re: Assign Insert key to (de)select files
It allows to select separate intervals: it selects all the items from the last selected one but not deselecting anything else (unlike shift+space).
Ctrl+Shift+Space
Shift+Space PS: Actually, I just realized that Shift+Space does NOT actually work for the second interval in XY, It selects the current Item and deselects everything else.

! List: Extended multi-selection by keyboard did not work as in File Explorer. Fixed.
Now it works like this (pivot is the last explicitly selected single item by
Ctrl+Click or Ctrl+Space):
- Shift+Space: Select all from the last pivot to here; remove all other selections.
- Ctrl+Shift+Space: Select all from the last pivot to here; keep all other selections.
