Lock Tree Nodes (CEA: Clicking on Tree Items)

Post by Evolve »

Items in Tree already react on clicks differently compare to items in List. And there is a good reason for that. It would be great to separate them in their own group and have a full control over their behaviour.

Clicking on Tree Items:
Single-click on Folder in Tree
Double-click on Folder in Tree
Middle-click on Folder in Tree

One thing I wanted this for is to set double-click in tree to None.
I use Locked Mini Tree for top nodes only and then I navigate in the List.
But sometimes I make a double click by mistake and then have to find and collapse it back.

Maybe you could instead add a tweak to disable node expansion on double-click in tree?

This may also be seen as a next and final level of locking the Tree with no ability to collapse / expand nodes.
Tweak: LockTreeNodes=1

Actually I now think it should be tied to "Lock Tree", i.e. only kick in when "Lock Tree" is also ON.

Agreed?

I agree. And BTW, I truly appreciate it. I was always insecure with the Tree. Now it's indestructible!

Actually I cannot see anything illogical in LockTreeNodes without LockTree. I always use MiniTree unlocked and this node lock could help even me to not mess up the MiniTree structure (I could be sure that only the navigation in the list could add a new folder to the MiniTree).

@admin Could you please put Lock Expansion State into Tools | Customize Tree as well?
There are not many options there compared to Tools | Customize List and I have Show Expansion Icons always unticked.

Show Expansion Icons always unticked? How weird! Why?

Hmm, good point!

I think the opposite is correct: it's weird to disable expansion but to keep expansion icons

Not bad. Actually good idea to put it into Customize Tree. Should have been mine.

Is there a reason why the "Lock tree" is missing from the Customize Tree menu? Now with the latest beta (using the SHIFT modifier on tree white) it also could be at hand.

Not a good reason. Only "history". It would really make sense in that menu, but it's too late for 23.40 (the release machine is already rolling). I'll add it to 23.50.
