What kind of groups are you interested in?

Group by Type, Group by Size, Group by Modified (each group consists of items modified by day, week, month, year),
Surprisingly the windows explorer while limited, it's actually good, (Folders and each item type for example are grouped and separated by lines and each line can be minimized).
I honestly think this will make organizing things much better on Xyplorer.

you already can make Group By with visual filters, sorting + colouring each group in any way you wish.

Thanks for the reply. But the chance of a Group By option is not too high. However, I note that there is some demand. So it's not totally impossible.

+1 from here...

I don't use Windows Explorer but my e-mail Client (Em Client) groups by date and I find that very convenient (as a concept)

I heavily rely on visual filters but it's not the same though

I've been a user since 2005, That's the only thing that keeps me from using XYplorer fully,
I understand and anything if any will be appropriated.

What is so convenient about the groups? Is it the visual separation? Or the ability to collapse them? (BTW, is the collapsed state remembered per folder?)

Both the the visual separation and the ability to collapse, It's just easy to keep things organized and easy to reach quickly.
And yes the collapsed state is remembered per folder.

Grouping especially by date - it's about the only thing I like about Windows File Explorer. It makes it so obvious.

So there are three features in grouping:

1) The visual separation in groups (which implies the conceptual separation in groups for each property that supports grouping).
2) The option to collapse individual groups.
3) Remembering the collapsed state for each grouping for each folder.

I don't see this coming anytime soon. But of the three features the first one is clearly less unlikely than the others.

That's a shame on all three of your points especially the first one. File management is really all about providing quick access to to files. Seeing them / finding them as quickly as possible makes it more efficient and all the better. But, don't get me wrong, I love XYplorer the way it is. :)

Well, I intended to spread a little hope about point 1... :)
