Real "Swap Panes"
Real "Swap Panes"
Hi!
Could you please make a real swap panes functionality, where the right-left or top-bottom panes are really swapped with all their tabs?
Now it is only the active tabs.
Maybe after 10 years you could reconsider it?

Re: Real "Swap Panes"
You could certainly script this yourself by creating temporary tabsets with the current tabs of each pane and then load the other pane's tabset in each of the two panes.

Re: Real "Swap Panes"
Well, you could certainly script a lot of the "built-in" functions too, so maybe there's no need for developing this software any more.
This is the "Wishes" section of this Forum and not the "How can I do it with scripts".

Re: Real "Swap Panes"
You're right about the wishes section, all I offered is a possible way out of this dilemma in case your wish is not granted due to being a bit too specific or exotic. I for one certainly never had the need to swap panes. Good luck with your wish anyway.

Re: Real "Swap Panes"
Essential for tidy working to keep source, as left, and right as destination. A feature I use regularly in my file managers (XY, as Don knows, won't run on my system anymore).
Re: Real "Swap Panes"
In the current version (21.00) you can swap panes, but this means really: swap the active tabs of the two panes. Not what you'd really would want to do...
- I normally do left source and right target, just as you but in a multimonitor environment is the right or left side often just 'too far away' while doing work. Swapping of the two sides would be handy.
- If you switch to single pane view then it's several mouseclicks to show the one or the other pane (I know you could surely script this too)
Re: Real "Swap Panes"
As it stands it should be called "Swap active tabs", since that is what it does.
Don, how about changing the name, and adding a real swap panes?

Re: Real "Swap Panes"
The currently available command here is called "Swap Locations". Never seen much demand for "Swap Panes".

Re: Real "Swap Panes"
Well, ok, I did a little research and this seems to be a standard command for dual pane apps, so I will just add it. No big thing.
