1. Press keyboard keys <windows>+<r> simultaneously.

2. In the upcoming dialog box enter the three chars "cmd" (aka "command", this opens the Window command shell aka dos box)

3. Then you should see something like

4. Then at the cursor enter "net share" and hit <enter>.

This command will print a result into this box. Post a screenshot of the resulting information.

You have done this in a nicer way, getting the image itself into the reply, but I don't know how to do that
Possibly from a security perspective I may have over-shared, but that is how I have set it up on MATTHEW-PC

Despite all this sharing, the tags on MATTHEW-PC are not visible on the HP. I have also shared the images on that laptop.

I have got this to work (finally!) by clicking
Tags | Import Local Tags

So the issue now is whether the results of that command can be set to occur automatically,
or does one have to click manually on the different PCs in the network.

I notice that a file has appeared on all 3 computers, alongside the files I am trying to tag:
"XYplorerTag.dat"
The data this file contains is the tag being replicated to all machines.

So ironically the tag that is not being replicated is the one which was created on the server MATTHEW-PC and is held where tags should be held, i.e., in the folder designated for it.
The tag that IS being replicated is held somewhere else (as above) where it shouldn't be held, and has a name I didn't give it.

Experimenting, I can now get tags to replicate across to all machines, but not by doing what the Help file tells me to do.
[1] First on MATTHEW-PC I create a new tag alongside a file
[2] I export the tag from MATTHEW-PC by clicking "Export Local Tags"
[3] I then import it to another machine clicking "Import Local Tags" on that other machine
[4] The same process works when creating tags on the 2 'client' laptops and replicating them to the server (and to each other)
The data relating to these successfully replicated tags is held in the file "XYplorerTag.dat" just mentioned.

Nice.
But not orthodox, and not automatic.

To misquote Startreck: "Its life, Captain, but not as we know it".

On Laptop 3 i get error messages when I exit XYplorer:

(quote):
"Some settings (Tags) might not have been saved to disk
Application data folder: c:\Users\Owner\AppData\Roaming\XYplorer\
Click OK to exit XYplorer anyway"

Now where the system got that from I have no idea....I didn't enter it at any stage
When I reload machine 3 (after exiting) the tags are still there

This discussion has effectively shifted to viewtopic.php?f=2&t=21687#p177765
as it turns out that a bug is part of the problem. :titter:
