2nd monitor, different resolution. XYplorer doesn't rescale

Post by psh_vt_gmail »

Hi, I'm using XYplorer on a Windows Surface Book 2 with a very high screen resolution of 3240x2160.

My second monitor has a much lower resolution -- 1920x1080.

I can't use XYplorer on the 2nd monitor because it doesn't rescale and shows at double size, too large to be usable. Most software I have rescales the window so the size/scale matches when moved between the two monitors.

Unfortunately for now I'm left with using File Explorer when I want to use the second monitor -- File Explorer does rescale so the window and font are similar on both monitors.

I hope there's a fix!

Hi, I'm using 3 monitors with similar resolutions and scaling between 100% and 225% and have no problems moving XY between monitors.
So it is possible! ;-)
Unfortunately I can't remember if I had to tweak anything or not, but let's compare versions - I'm on 20.60.0200. What r u using?

Interesting. Here's a recent thread with the same problem and no solution: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=21142

Please remember! :)

So, since you were so kind to consider my humble wish for christmas, I tried really hard to remember...

Could it be this? (Or is that the deault-setting anyway?)

Code: Select all

; Tweak: suppress auto-scaling
NoAutoScaling=0

That's the default anyway.

I would think you fiddled with the Shell Properties of XYplorer.exe. Could that be?

Hmm, I don't think I fiddled with those settings.

Ok.

Could you try if it works with a fresh instance?

What exactly is "fresh instance"? Like "Throw Away Clone"? Or should I temporarily rename the AppData-Folder?

Or maybe a recent O/S-Update brought new smartness?

Code: Select all

OS: Windows 10 Professional, 64-bit, Release 1909, Build 18363.476

Run this through the address bar and up pops a fresh instance:

Code: Select all

fresh;

Looks the same on all 3 monitors, correctly adjusted etc.

Found a workaround for Windows 10
- in Windows Explorer, right-click xyplorer.exe and go to "Properties"
- go to tab "Compatibility" and click button "Change high DPI settings"
- check checkbox "Override high DPI scaling behavior"
- in dropdown "Scaling performed by:", select option "System"
