Re: Colored Tab
Or we make this work in all styles?

Re: Colored Tab
Honestly I'm not crazy about the yellow highlight feature. I'm not sure what your plan is for the tab section in Color Configuration, but a checkbox for Selected tab colors priority over tab coloring would be best. If not, doesn't that whole section becomes a bit meanless for anyone using your new individual tab color options?

Re: Colored Tab
No, the section is meaningful for all non-custom colored tabs. Me, for example, I colored just one tab out of twelve.

Re: Colored Tab
BTW, I also set Configuration | Tabs and Panes | Tabs | Show X close buttons on tabs to "Selected tab" so that little cross is another sign that marks the selected tab.

Re: Colored Tab
Thanks Don for the info. I've been setup though such that my pane text and background color and the Breadcrumb text and background is the same as the tab that is currently open. It's a nice effect in that the selected tab is always quite visible since it's matches the background of the list and breadcrumb. So the result is kind of a working flow or melding of those 3 areas which make sense when your changing locations (i.e., the background of all the areas matching). It makes it easy to detect where you are since the selected tab always has the same background as the list pane and BC. Now with the coloring of tabs it seems to be even more important.

Re: Colored Tab
will we get scripting command for this? to make feature full it really needs a way to quickly get/set colors via scripting.

Re: Colored Tab
I'm not sure if this is a great example but here it is. For purposes of the example I made the selected tab background white to match the pane and BC background color. It makes for a nice melding affect since you can see the same background of the pane and BC run up to the selected tab.

Re: Colored Tab
"Downloads" text is bold. You said " I don't like bolding ...".
"Downloads" text color is blueish, while the BC text color appears to be black.

Re: Colored Tab
OK coloring can get weird. I guess the breadcrumb bar can have a top border inactive tabs can get a bottom border.
Concerning the debate of breadcrumb/tab color matching, how do you feel about something like this? The active tab gets bc bar color, and its custom color (if any) displays as a thin line inbetween. (inspired by the container highliting style of Firefox tabs)

Re: Colored Tab
i kinda like the idea above with "Tab match breadcrumb" to overtake custom tab colour - this will solve "which tab is current" problem. but i'd prefer not thin line of custom tab colour to appear, but current tab to always match BC bar, while whole border be highlighted with custom colour(if any was set). adding example.

Re: Colored Tab
Well, I find it all ugly. Ended up with this for now:
I'm personally also a fan of "Match selected tab with breadcrumb bar" so I will probably use the tweak. If a majority agrees I might even set it to 1 by factory default...
Code: Select all
+ Tweak to prioritize "Configuration | Colors and Styles | Colors | Match
selected tab with breadcrumb bar" over Custom Colored Tabs:
TabMatchSelectedWithCrumbPrio=1

Re: Colored Tab
Much has happened while I was sleeping, but I don't use Bold on the selected tab text or the "X". I was just experimenting since your latest color tab changes. I should have removed these options first before demonstrating my point. My real point though was the background of the selected tab matching and melding with the same background of the pane and BC. The text color wasn't as important.

FatMarginTab3.png could have been nice.
What about my other point, tab bottom border?
