Re: Various configuration changes aren't saved consistently

While the developer considers the changes you have requested, can I make some suggestions to you about what is possible currently, have you checked out the Throw away Clone feature ?

https://www.xyplorer.com/release_18.80.php#OTAC

you can also enter this mode with the command line switch /readonly, or enter readonly; in the address bar, it may help in situations where you don't want your main configuration polluted.

Also this setting regarding tabsets may be of some benefit to you:
  • Configuration | Tabs and Panes | Tabs | Auto-save tabsets on switch
Also to save power filters etc without exiting you can just select this item:
  • File | Settings Special | Save Configuration
granted it saves the rest of your main config (not tags/catalog etc), but you needn't exit or change save settings on exit via config.

Also check out this menu thoroughly if you haven't already:
  • File | Settings Special
it allows you to save various things manually, if items have an asterisk you have made changes to them since you started the session.

There is also a toolbar button "Save Settings". Add it to the toolbar via Tools | Customize Toolbar... (Ctrl+Shift+F9). Click it and all your settings are saved.
