Configuration Autosave doesn't update button icon

Post by selukwe »

Configuration Autosave doesn't update Toolbar button icon after the set time (from brown to green).

I have it set to 1 min. and all 11 possibilities under button Apply To are checked. The icon updates only when the selected path in the pane is user-changed (after the set time). Is it supposed to work like this?

Yes, check the help for autosave for a description of user actions that trigger the save.

OK. Got the point. But is there a reason for this not to be done truly automatically, without having to trigger it by a user-action? By "automatically", I guess, most users understand automatically, i.e. without a user interaction.

Sure, imagine your tag.dat database is a whopping 1GB large.
Do you really want it to get saved each minute, when there
was no change in between (not only folder changes trigger
a save, but also closing the config screen with OK and
tagging Files (currently bugged))...

Not each minute, but a minute after the LAST change occured. No further change, no save. Still don't get the point what's the advantage of such behavior. I guess immediate save on timer could be at least a worthwhile additional option for those who prefer it this way...
