It's an actual screenshot. I'm using Windows 8.1 with the Penumbra custom theme. Then it's just the list and tree background colors changed to match the theme.
Windows 10 has a Dark mode and that is set on my PC, but it isn't influencing XYplorer, any idea why?

Try High Contrast Mode, enabled via:

left Alt + left Shift + PrintScreen

Will this be a full fledged free-form theme-based solution or 'just' (which IS a great addiction, have to say) a single hi-contrast alternate shell, Don?

Due to some issues I've lost several 'minor' improvements I made over my XY usage over the years, but one thing I'm still keeping at the point of my fingers is the theme stuff I made along with other users, mainly the RthemeL theme maker, which I used to fine-tune my newest installment over the latest beta using a Solarized/dark theme, which still can't provide a better experience due to current restraints.

Yet the attached seems the same old thing, I do have other versions which I run in parallel (4-5, commonly) each and every session I start - each with its own look-and-feel, which plays very effectively with Win taskbar live preview/ALT+TAB MS features.

Hi,

Thanks again for making and updating this great explorer.

A true dark theme from you is something i am really looking for, actually it's my most expecting feature right now.

Cheers

I don't think so. VB6 is fully OS theme aware. Which parts are that?
How does one achieve this look? While I'm pretty new to this explorer replacement I don't see where or how or what boxes to check off or menu options to select to make this happen. I've literally looked under every menu and rock and dialog to have this look... can't. The UI is still bright and bouncy! :eh:

Teasing...

Did you find a satisfying way to paint Windows controls (menu bar, toolbar, scrollbars, context menu...)?

Well, there are many problems... challenges... hurdles... pitfalls... it's live and let die in the war of themes...

 This is gonna be so gooood.

Are you making all colors configurable? I mean, more than there are actually.

Or will it be a choice between light theme and dark theme, then some colors are configurable?
