dark theme

Post by CompSystems »

Hello, most software offers three themes, the one associated to the graphic interface by default of the operating system, a theme associated with the interest of its creator or designer, and almost always a dark theme.

Please add an option dark theme., without the need to load scripts

Thanks

Some parts of the UI is just dependent on the OS theme. I think that may be a limitation of VB6. It's not WPF or anything.
But with the dark OS theme, you can get a pretty decent looking dark theme going:

I don't think so. VB6 is fully OS theme aware. Which parts are that?

Oh, I was just taking a guess since it's quite dated now. I'm not exactly familiar with VB6.
So is it possible to apply colors to things like the window borders/separators, address bar backgrounds, scrollbars etc?
Because if so, I would also very much like a 'dark theme' option like OP is suggesting.

if one day XY will provide full dark theme, like one say Photoshop provides, that would be great!

Well, as I said: make Windows dark and XY will be dark (mostly... you will have to adjust things like breadcrumb bars and some others).

old, known and not convenient method. i was exactly saying that the day when XY will have native/independent dark theme - that would be great day. :ninja:

Donald, thanks for the best file manager utility I've seen in the world.

I'd like to second the request for a native XYplorer dark theme.

I understand that we can set Windows to globally use a dark theme, but it causes problems in other apps that expect that setting to be at default. Many apps now just offer a variety of themes (at least dark and light) built-in.

Of course, I could try to build my own theme, but time is crunched.

Not possible. I'm using various Windows elements, e.g. buttons, where I cannot control the color.

But thanks for the nice words! :D

Made a little research, and things look better now. I can indeed customize the colors of buttons, scrollbars etc...

And since File Explorer just came out with an optional Dark Theme, I thought it's the right time to have that here too. So, XYplorer Dark Theme is coming... :)

Don, come to the dark side

My only wish would be to change the colors in the hoverbox or previews where text is displayed.

Imagine having your system set up to be easy on the eyes and late at night hovering or popping a preview of some text blinds you and a white square is temporarily imprinted on your retina.

:) Sure, man.

I see you don't use the main menu bar. I like to see that because ATM this is the biggest obstacle here on the way to perfect darkness. Still researching... :maf:
