Optional sorting of drives by volume label

I routinely work with many attached drives and want a way to sort the drive list by volume label so I can check at a glance that all the drives of each named category are connected to the bus. There's no way currently to add a custom column in the drive list view to do this. Filtering helps as a workaround, but it's cumbersome to check each of the multiple categories (like VIDEO 1, VIDEO 2 or MUSIC 1 MUSIC 2 ... etc.). The fact that you can filter by volume label but not sort is also inconsistent behavior.
