Make 'AND' optional in expressions for search, filters

Post by Jerry »

I would like to do searches and filtering on multiple required strings without having to enter AND. For example, to find anything having "cat" and "dog" in the name, in any order, I would like to just specify:

Code: Select all

cat dog

This is actually happening in search. (Not in filters though.)

Impossible to change this anyway. Would break old code.

I have a dream ...
  • For clarity, consistency, easier access to XY's search and filter syntax, and to encourage, educate and empower all users (not just power elites ;-)) to take advantage of XY's enhanced productivity capabilities:
    • Unified Search and Filter
More details of this wish I hope to follow up in a separate topic, or should I give it up?

I understand it might require revision of old code, but why would it be "impossible"? Is this code that is VB6 binary that you have no ability to modify?

No no, not impossible in that sense. I have full control, of course.

So, then, why not be motivated to move a bullet point out of the CON column for XY?
