Configuration | General | Menus, Mouse, Usability | Mouse | Double-click on empty space goes up
was by default checked in previous versions.

Can you please make
Configuration | General | Custom Event Actions | Clicking on White | Double-click on white in file list | Go up
the default again?

Unfortunately I had to remove it:

Code: Select all

v21.00.0001 - 2020-09-02 19:09
    * Configuration | General | Menus, Mouse, Usability | Mouse | Double-click
      on empty space goes up: Now OFF by factory default. Some new users were
      apparently shocked by it, probably also because of "Highlight hovered
      items", which looks a bit like Full Row Select.

That's bad.

First for preconfiguring new instances and second: For existing (old) users.

I feel the same.

But I learned over the years that it's not a good idea to default to innovations. Although I have to admit that those problem users are mostly retired teachers. :mrgreen:

actually, considering this old=new stuff and defaults, it could be cool if when smt is changes while upgrading, a simple text() appears on first upgraded run, stating smt like:
parameter1, parameter2 = deleted
parameter3 = upgraded value
prarmeter4,parameter5,parameter6 = newly added

in such a way old users could at least know what needs to be re-configured.

How many users would actually know what these parameters really represent?

Code: Select all

RLPMatchWithTPT = upgraded
Uhhh, mhhhh, ahhhhh, this one! :mrgreen:

how many users really care to set everything in app according to ones tastes? :roll: same goes for example to how many ordinary users actually do backups and care about settings/behaviour changes at all..
my proposition was more about beta changes for beta-users. :ninja: but all-in-all it's just thoughts aloud.

It's extremely rare that upgrading to a new version changes anything in your old settings. I'm proud to say that XYplorer probably has the smoothest upgrading process in the universe on planet Earth.

The kind of log you propose would be extra-work for me, extra-load for memory, extra-space for your disk (and not only your disk). It would be nice to have, but nicer would be to do without. :)

I rethought that. Give the retired teachers something to chew on! Next version "Go up" is the factory default again. :mrgreen:

Thanks!

This would still be handy: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=22499

Give a new instance some preconfigured entries...

Don there seems to be a huge lag when using the single left click statusbar CEA, for example if you have it show a popupmenu, I can have the cursor on the opposite edge of the screen before the popupmenu shows, is that by design to accommodate dbl click? Middleclick seems ok.

Yes, you got it. It waits for a possible dbl-click before it processes the single click. It's 200 msecs huge. :)

You have internal events for drives being added / removed. Can you promote the add / remove event to CEA as well?

I find my "All drives button" replacement rather nice and it's a bit overkill to fire it on each changed folder event...

Then could we please have the option to open Favourite Folders and Drives into a New Tab? :)
