I've had the semicolon there each and every time I've tried.

Note that "::appicon;" works - thanks to autocart for point this out.

@Don: Using CFI to change the <xy> icon works in most places but not in tab captions (which in turn affects :tablist etc), is that something that could be remedied?

Code: Select all

seticons('+<xy>><xy> /2'); tab('rename', 'xy|<xy>');

does the new 16^2 icon has larger siblings (would like to use it for CTBs on an upscaled toolbar)?

That was a bug. Fix comes.

Note that seticons('+<xy>><xy> /2') is clever but the quality of the icon is not as good as when referencing a real ICO file, because ATM the extracted icons are 32x32 and the small versions are (badly) generated from it.

Doesn't work here on Win 10 Pro. I haven't done (another) restart yet, though.
After multiple restarts it just does not work for me. When I unpin, the old icon shows fine again. As soon as I pin again, the icon switches again.

Can someone provide a definitive way how to make the taskbar pin show what is configured in the application?

The ancient way to explicitly provide a different icon to the pinned link (via the properties dialog) should still work. Have you already tried that with the old icon file Don posted here?

So, after spending more time on this.

It turns out that the Windows icon cache is just really persistent.
One has to kill all explorer.exe instances and then delete the cache files from "%userprofile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Explorer".

Yes, eagle eye! I should have centered the red front side only. And the vertical pos, well, maybe a little higher 1 or 2 cm, but it's not bad as it is.

Alright so I registered on this forum just for this.

I'm the owner of a paid license of XYplorer and I love the software for many reasons, I think it's great and I couldn't use a Windows machine without it now.
That said, I'm also a graphic designer and after I've updated XYplorer to the latest release I felt compelled to give my feedback here.

The old logo was undoubtedly ugly but overall functional.
This new one is utterly nasty.

Graphic design is no matter of personal taste. Graphic design is a profession and a vast field of knowledge that requires years of training and hard work to master. You can always ask your nephew for a logo and like the result but that doesn't mean it's a professional result.

I fight with developers everyday in my job and I know how different their mindset is to one of a visual designer. But that doesn't justify not being able to delegate a job you aren't actually trained to do, to a proper professional.

That said I appreciate the script to keep the old logo. Or I can always change it to whatever I want on the taskbar, I guess.

I'm sorry to come out bluntly, but that's exactly how you come out with this logo redesign to me. Blunt like a sore eye.

So fair enough I guess.
