"Preserve all item dates" - Is there a negative consequence of enabling this?

Post by okumam »

I was wondering why the "last accessed date" was not working in my files and found that there is a setting that needs to be enabled for this called "Preserve all item dates" in Tools -> Configuration... -> File Operations -> Custom Copy Operations -> Configure... ->.

But this is off by default. I am wondering if enabling this will have a detrimental effect on anything, slowing down the PC or causing degradation on the drives. I searched first, and I saw one post about it, so I wanted to get some second opinions.

Nope, no detrimental effect known.

Personally I find it a bit annoying sometimes that the Created date is a lie when it is preserved. It does not tell you anymore when the file was created here but when it was created elsewhere.
