folder missing after changing its default location

I've changed the default location of downloads folder to D:\Downloads
it no longer appears under user folder. although it appears in windows explorer

True. It's interesting that File Explorer can do it, apparently even without using a junction. XYplorer cannot do it ATM. It would be a total first to list a subfolder that's actually located on a different drive. Looks like a nasty can of worms to me.

Workaround: Tick Configuration | General | Tree and List | Items in Tree and List | Show Downloads folder and you have Downloads as a virtual top folder.

maybe File Explorer read paths stored in the registry so it can display under the special folder shell:UsersFilesFolder
because in the real path C:\Users\<username> folder is missing too.
the option is already ticked thank you

The problem isn't figuring out the path. The problem is putting it somewhere where it does not belong. This will likely break XYplorer in a hundred places.

For me its completely wrong what Explorer does.
A file manager should show what is on the disk and not fake entries from other places.
Windows 11 Home x64 Version 23H2 (OS Build 22631.3374)
Portable XYplorer (actual version, including betas)
