Post by yusef88 »

no an easy option here to prevent create photo thumbnails
instead, you have to exclude photo extensions from previewed formats

image thumbnails in browsing list seems to be mandatory, no way to disable them

Hmm. If you don't want thumbnails, don't use the thumbnails view.

I have folders that have a few video files and possibly dozens of preview images. I typically want thumbnails for the videos, but not for all those images.

Keeping the images as their icons makes it easy to distinguish the two.

Being able to exclude filetypes from thumbnail generation sounds handy, especially when using folder view settings on a large tree of folders.

@WirlyWirly: Why don't you just use a visual filter to exclude images in those folders (which can also be set in FVS), then if only videos are in the list only those will be thumbnailed, if you ever want to see the images, just remove the VF temporarily (in a non-thumbnail view if you don't want the thumbnails cached and you have the cache enabled).

Alternatively you could use the new setthumb thumbs map to disable thumbnails, but you'd have to manually enter the filenames/locations/wildcards:

There is a tweak NoThumb where you can list the extensions you don't want thumbnails for, e.g.:

Code: Select all

NoThumb=jpg.png.gif
