Make "name" column automaticall use all space unused by other columns
Re: Make "name" column automaticall use all space unused by other columns
I believe I did this correctly. When I open the INI while XY is not running, the tweak is set to 1.
Re: Make "name" column automaticall use all space unused by other columns
XY still seems to use its previously remembered column widths. Can I clear them somehow?
Re: Make "name" column automaticall use all space unused by other columns
OK, so SOMETHING is happening.
When I initially start XY, the first folder that the program is opened with seems to to have autosized columns.
But after that, no more effect. Other folders, nothing. Even if I leave the first folder and then go back to it again, no autosizing.
SIDE NOTE: The autosizing should leave space at the right end for the scroll bar. Or does this happen automatically as soon as a scrollbar becomes necessary?

OH, okay.
I had to swith off "adaptive name column width". Problem solved.

Re: Make "name" column automaticall use all space unused by other columns
I'm very happy with this new feature, and I'm quite sure I will replace "Adaptive name column width" with it in 22.20.

Interesting. I cannot reproduce any issues here when "adaptive name column width" is ON. Well, that's just a side note. It doesn't matter as one will replace the other.

Re: Make "name" column automaticall use all space unused by other columns
One thing I noticed is that the "Type" column does not take its mimimum possible width always.
When I have a folder that contains nothing but subfolders, the Type column is ~60% wider than it needs to be to display the word "Dateiordner". Is this by design?

Oh, I guess you have given a fixed width to Ext, Size and Type.
Which makes sense I guess.

Re: Make "name" column automaticall use all space unused by other columns
The width of any of the other columns is not touched by this function. To achieve this you have to enable "Autosize Columns".

Re: Make "name" column automaticall use all space unused by other columns
Thanks! I just tried that. These two options seem like two features that would work go together very nicely (to get the behaviour I described in my first post).
But unfortunately, the option "Autosize columns" does not work nicely with the new tweak at the moment.
When I enable it, it shrinks the Name column to the minimum (instead of just all other columns and maximizing Name).
And as soon I change the folder, the checkmark on "Autosize columns" disappears again.

Well, it works very nicely here. Let's wait until the feature is available in the GUI. Then we can discuss the details.

Strange... OK, let's wait and see what happens!

It is still showing that behaviour in the release version.rhoelzl wrote: ↑02 Aug 2021 20:23 But unfortunately, the option "Autosize columns" does not work nicely with the new tweak at the moment.
