[NOT A BUG] Can't manually access hidden drives anymore

Post by 1024mb »

I have hidden lots of drives from one instance of XYplorer with the C drive being one of them.

Before if I manually typed the path to one of the hidden drives I could access them without problems, but now, with the latest beta updates (at least since 20.00.0004 as I haven't tried every single beta with this instance), I can't do it anymore. If I go to a path in the C drive I get "Location currently not available", one thing though if I close XYplorer with the tab that has a path in the C drive focused and then I open it again the contents of that path are shown on startup but if I switch tabs they disappear and I get the "not available" message again. I have tried looking for a new option that it may have been added but I can't find one.

I'm using "HideDrivesByLetter" on the config file.

Never used that setting but I can say that this doesn't work even with an older version, e.g. 21.90.0000 so I wouldn't say that this is a rather recent change...

Well, that is ultra strange, I could do this with versions older (betas) than 21.90. I mean, I was able to do it all the time until just now that I updated to 22.00.0004 and 0005, unless I've been crazy all this time. :eh:

Of course I didn't updated this instance as often as the main one but I did tend to update it.

EDIT: Lol what the hell is happening. I've tried downgrading and even reached 20.80 and I'm still unable to do it :eh:

I know why it isn't working...

You are in maxi tree and the mini tree is required (that setting is ignored in it)...
+ Tweak to hide certain drives by letter. The drives are hidden from
the Maxi Tree and from the Drives listing under the "Computer" node.
E.g. this will hide drives A and B:
HideDrivesByLetter=AB
Note that this tweak supersedes the setting of Configuration |
General | Show hidden drives (which retrieves the systemwide
HIDDEN property for drives from the registry).
An attempt to browse to such hidden drives will fail in MaxiTree
mode. The MiniTree, however, is not affected by this tweak.

You are absolutely right, I just tried restoring a backup of the config file and in this one I can access the paths of hidden drives and it has mini tree enabled.
Thanks for the help!
