My photo storage is pretty standard but I am struggling understanding how to leverage the power of XYplorer.
I have a main photo folder and then subfolders (albums) under this.
I am wanting to do so regex and batch renaming. Simple stuff like substitude _ for blanks and -. or to rname all files to the the name of the folder with an increment.
I would think I could seect the main PHOTO folder and execute the above and it would hit all subfolders and files.
I cannot seem to select the main PHOTO folder and get the File->Rename Special dialog to appear.
Am I doing something wrong? Thanks!
Folder Tree - Selection Questions
Re: Folder Tree - Selection Questions
Because that part of the context menu doesn't exist for the tree and apart from that, that menu is for selected files, not for "dive into a folder structure and do stuff there"

Re: Folder Tree - Selection Questions
A Branch View for "Folders Only" should put all the folders in the list pane where you can batch rename them.

He doesn't want to rename folders, but files (in them), Don
But if scripting is used, this approach could probably the best (at least: the cleanest)...

Re: Folder Tree - Selection Questions
What about using Branch View ?
Then you have all files in the complete tree in the list
and File / Rename Special... is available after selecting some or all files.

Re: Folder Tree - Selection Questions
I want to rename BOTH folders and files. First folders. Then leverage that for the files.
"A Branch View for "Folders Only" should put all the folders in the list pane where you can batch rename them."
So I think I start with this?
Then leverage the ther suggestions for the files?

Re: Folder Tree - Selection Questions
Just an idea to see all you folders in the list, but in a tree-like layout. Might make it easier to rename them in a meaningful way.
