Keep date/time when copying

Post by Alain Terrieur »

Hi guys,

Is there a settings somewhere to keep date and time from folders and files when copying ?
Whether it's with native copying or with Teracopy...
Actually all copied elements are dated according to the current date.
I want to keep "original" date.

It's already set like this.
However it's not working when copying from one drive to another...
Especially on mapped drive.

It does not work (always!) if you copy it from an internal drive to another internal drive?

Can't say anything about a mapped cloud drive (it's underlying file system isn't probably a Windows one but more likely ext4, btrfs, xfs or anything like that)...

My laptop has a SSD and an HDD, and previous example was copy from SSD to HDD.

I have a program: AirLiveDrive that makes cloud drive appearing as mapped drives.

And I use them to make backup directly with either move or copy.

It was a copy from <somewhere> to P:, which is a mapped cloud drive.

Show a file copy from C: to D: as a screenshot...

Does it work correctly with Windows Explorer (from C: / D: to P:)?

If not, blame your cloud or AirLiveDrive software provider and try to write a script that gets the last modified and created date from the source files, copies them and timestamps the destination files afterwards...

Again, either a problem with what these cloud providers use or with the AirLiveDrive software. Try it via scripting...

Thanks so far for help/explanation.
However, I'm a total noob to scripts

XYplorer tries to set the folder date after all copies are done. Hard to say why it fails here. Doesn't look like something that could be fixed in XY.
