Hello, soon i will move all my pictures to a new drive (once it arrives). The drive i have all my pics atm is Drive F, the new
Disk will be drive E.
I know how to modify XYThumbs.ini to point to the new drive so i won't have to rebuild all the thumbnails but i have no idea what to do with the Folder views i have saved so i won't have to save them from scratch.
So any help is greatly appreciated

Re: Folder view question
From scratch, why?
There is a "Manage Folder Views..."
double click on an entry, edit the path, button "OK"
Rinse and repeat...

Re: Folder view question
I was afraid of that lol, I have almost 3000 Folder views saved, it will take some time.
Better than nothing i guess, thanks highend!

Re: Folder view question
In that case I'd better use the old drive letter for the new drive...

Re: Folder view question
Are you referring to XYthumbs.txt in the thumbnails folder? I'm quite sure you'll have to do more than just that. Each "*.dat2" cache file has the folder and thumbnail size. XYthumbs.txt is really not much more than a log of thumbnail cache files. Don provided a thumbnail cache rename scripting command, thumbscacherename() specifically for this reason - thumbscacherename() - updates a renamed or moved path in the thumbnails cache. You can use that command or to simplify doing that you can you the Thumbnail Maintenance script here viewtopic.php?f=7&t=12257 which has a menu item "Update Thumbnail DB for Image Folder Relocation".
I've also used a editor capable of binary and changed drive / folder location for saved folder views in "fvs.dat" using simple replace like "D:\" to "G:\" or "D:\Photos" to "G:\Photos".

Re: Folder view question
Hello again guys, the HDD arrived a few days ago but its problematic so i have to return it tomorrow at some point.
I've tried some binary editors to modify the folder views (fvs.dat) but no luck so far. I use "find and replace" and when its done i save it. However they don't seem to be saved properly. When i open the fvs.dat again the old paths are still there.
Did I do something wrong? and also can you please tell me which editor did you used klownboy?
Thanks.

Re: Folder view question
Well it's been too long for me. I used and still use AkelPad. I just tried it again and my changes via "replace" did work (i.e., the changes were there when I reopened it), however XYplorer didn't seem to recognize the changes when looking in View > Folder View settings > Manage Folder views (i.e., the old folder was still there). I made sure the changes were done with XY either closed or closed XY without saving. Since it's a binary file, I also made the "replaces" with the same amount of characters (e.g., F:\ to G:\ or "F:\Photos" to "G:\Photos"). I'll experiment some more and let you know if I have any success.
