But still...it would be nice if Don could extend the LiveFilter to use all visible fields (or selected fields) or at least the full path - I think this should be doable via GUI

It is possible since Path is part of the shell properties of each item. You only have to find out the number or the caption in your locale. Here are two ways in my German Windows to live filter the search results to show only items in a folder called "cyrill":

You can find numer and name in the dialog to select the property of a newly added column:

Yup, that works. But I must say...that's quite a hefty input for such a seemingly simple requirement. It is nice that it's possible at all - but a smarter UI would be even nicer For example, why not add "Select search-fields" to the context-menu of the quick search input? And maybe by default include all visible columns/properties?

"Quick search" would not be quick anymore. (It's called quick because the interface is light and easy; the speed of the search is always quick in XY, also with the big Find Files search)

Hmmm, yes and no. If I need to remember that syntax to search the path it means that the whole experience won't be quick for me

OK. What about this: Right-click menu of the column headers offers "Quick Search this Column..."
