Gosh, you are not the patient type!
There's nothing to see yet (I'm still in waiting position, i.e. I'm on (home-)holiday!), and if all works out well (and why shouldn't it?) there still will be nothing to see because it will look just the same as before. Apart from the black menu.
I did not even install the IDE yet, as I said: I take a break, I load my batteries, getting ready for 600-1000 hours of code polishing...

Ok, ok, ok ....
I was just looking to spend some useful time when the family is not around.
For sure, I will show any patience that is required (to cite M. Draghi, "whatever it takes!").
Though I've subscribed to Disney+ for the boy some weeks ago, I rather use my rare spare time for more fun. Hence: back to scripting.
Enjoy your holidays.

Wow, that's a fricking breaking news! Good luck on that path Don, and congrats on making such a decision that will lead to hard hours (I hope not for you, but I cannot imagine the contrary )!
WinForms is not cross-platform though, which UI framework will you use?

Oh, it's not? Well, then we can scrap that point.

WinForms are fully supported by Mono, so they are cross-platform.
Mono is OpenSource implementation of .Net framework, uses GTK# by default for UI. Does run fine on all of Windows, Linux, macOS. Uses GTK# as underlying UI toolkit on all OSes including Windows.

Do you plan to target .NET Framework or .NET Core / .NET 5?

Re: +++ BREAKING NEWS: XY Switches Programming Language +++
Somehow funny. I used the Debotnet tool (similiar to wpd, w10privacy ) of the developer Mirinsoft and didnt know it was written in VB. Yesterday I read on his blog he gives up on VB too When I heard the news I thought about XYplorer
https://www.mirinsoft.com/blog/19-apps/ ... rpapp-only
I don't think that vb (especially vb.net) will die for the next few decades but for sure it will die at the earliest when the 32bit architecture diesI couldn't and didn't want to work anymore on something I didn't enjoy and that was "dead" (the development language VB classic and in the "not-too-distant" future also VB.Net ).

Unless we all die before due to some 19bit architecture...
