F5 -> Refresh List *and* Tree, really?

Post by admin »

Code: Select all

v12.70.0014 - 2013-08-03 10:31
    + Added tweak to refresh (on Refresh, F5) only the list if the list
      is focused:
        RefreshListOnly=1
Shouldn't this be the factory default? I don't know what changed in the recent 7 years but I don't seem to expect anymore that the Tree refreshes when I press F5 and the focus is in the List. When I do that I want to refresh the list only! And I want to do it fast. Refreshing the tree can take time...

Probably a stupid question, but currently does Auto-refresh always refresh both the List and Tree regardless of focus? Or, does it only refresh the panel in focus (list or tree)?

This is not about Auto-refresh (Auto-refresh always refreshes what's necessary).

This is about manual refresh by F5.

Replying to myself (old Merle Haggard tradition) I say: Yes!

Yes, I realized your question didn't pertain to auto-refresh, but since you had brought up manual refresh, I was only curious about the current auto-refresh behavior (as you said, what's necessary is - list, tree, or both). So even with Auto-refresh off, if I physically drag (move) a folder in the "list" over to the a different location in the "tree", both tree and list refresh (without a manual refresh)...seems to as it stands now. So I assume that behavior wouldn't change if I voted to have refresh list only as default. :tup:

Yes. Apart from the Auto-Refresh (which is more for events from the outside, for things that XY cannot know about) there is an internal auto-refresh (which cannot be turned off BTW) where XY just knows what to do. You can distinguish both by the speed. The internal auto-refresh is immediate, whereas the official Auto-Refresh takes some hundreds of milli seconds usually (it relies on messages broadcasted by Windows).

And yes, all this has nothing to do with the manual F5 Refresh.
