Hi,
unfortunately I have to re-install Windows 10 Pro from scratch.
During preparation I've custom-copied my portable apps folder from C:\ (%HOMEDRIVE%) to a transfer drive (to preserve all file and folder timestamps). Surprisingly, when trying to custom-copy this folder to the "new" C:\-drive there's is no way I can get custom copy to work.
No matter what I do (fresh, emptied CustomCopyBlacklist.dat etc.) the custom copy settings are ignored and shell copy gets used instead.
So I restored my old Windows partition to check -> it's the same! Now, I'm confused.
Is there a "magic" switch I'm missing, or a tweak? I didn't find any special reference in the manual.
I must have missed something.
Thanks,
Filehero
Custom Copy: Not used for target %HOMEDRIVE% (C:\)

Does anyone observe the same behavior?

If you're not Admin then the following target paths are protected by UAC:
%HOMEDRIVE%
%ALLUSERSPROFILE%*
%ProgramFiles%*
%ProgramFiles(x86)%*
%ProgramW6432%*|%WinDir%*"
Custom Copy does not handle UAC, so you get the vanilla shell copy instead.

Hi Don,
thanks for clarification.
Could Custom Copy be made to handle UAC? It would be great to have XY(copy) asking for elevation each time it's required by Windows.
Cheers,

Nope, only the shell copy can handle this. It's a shell thing. But that's not a problem. Everything XY does is ultimately done by Windows, only on different levels.

Ok. Thanks again for explaining.
