vacant removable drive letters displaying in tree

which setting do i change so that previous usb portable drives that are no longer plugged into the pc, do not display in the tree at all until they are re-inserted? they dlisplay with a ? next to them. I can hide the drive manually from the mini tree.

Are you using the Mini Tree or the Maxi Tree?

In the former case you can just hide them via right-click menu > "Hide Folder from Mini Tree".

In the latter case untick Configuration | General | Tree and List | Items in Tree and List | Show hidden drives.
