I turned on the "Always Show Folder Sizes" setting in the configuration menu, and when I went to uncheck the box to turn it back off, it only turned off in the right pane. (The right pane was active when I unchecked the box.)
So, I tried activating the left pane and going back into the menu to check and uncheck the box again, but the left pane still always shows folder sizes in the list. (and takes forever to load directories with many large folders.)
Whats worse; sometimes when I load the root directory of a drive in the right pane (which usually doesn't show folder sizes in the list), it still searches for folder sizes even though it doesn't display them when it's done searching. Hitting escape stops this process.
I've tried closing and reopening the program, and also checking and unchecking the box to turn "Always Show Folder Sizes" on and off, but this function seems to be stuck...
Always Show Folder Sizes will not turn off
Re: Always Show Folder Sizes will not turn off
You probably have this enabled:
Tools | Customize List | Show Folder Sizes
it operates independently from the global setting, or you may have saved a FVS with folder sizes enabled:

That was the problem, thank you.
