Folder View subtlely

Post by DixieCup48 »

Was reading the PDF for v20.20. It states:
When going to a folder via tab switch, the tab's memory is valued higher than any associated Folder View . This way it is ensured that you always find a tab in the state you left it.
With this all occuring automatically no longer understand what the value of FVS is or how it should be used. :?

You have an FVS saved for a certain location. You navigate to that location, and the FVS gets applied.
Now, suppose you make some temporary alterations to the view, maybe add a couple columns, change the view mode to thumbs.
Then you navigate to another tab to do something else.
Okay, now when you return to the first tab, you'll find those alterations are still active; the tab has not automatically (annoyingly) reverted to FVS settings.
The FVS itself is not modified though. If you navigate back and fore in the same tab, FVS settings are reapplied as usual.

This mechanism aims for minimal friction between momentary customization and saved settings. HTH.

@ SammaySarkar - Do appreciate your taking the time to compose a lucent explanation. Think the FVS is now understood. Even after having read the PDF several times it remained nebulous. With this new comprehension it makes great good sense. :appl:
