"found count" in RED font

Post by chasster123 »

Why does the Found Count (discovered files in search) turn to a Red font after a while of searching?
Is there a file limit or Cache issue that is affecting my TB file-set searches - seems that selecting large sets (i.e. 10's of thousands) of files to delete don't get deleted unless I manually select smaller groups of files.

There is an internal limit of 32767 items in XYplorer where the selections can be restored when coming back to the tab. Other than that XYplorer itself has no such limits.

However, 32767 is also the limit for many shell operations in Windows. So the red color just tells you that you are entering an area where Windows begins to turn its back on you.

Thanks, i have had over 300,000 items selected in a single search. It would be helpful to have an indicator of its progress - not that I'm seeking a counter but in datasets this large it seems like it gets hung (at least on displaying an empty list) somewhere along the way. Often i end up rerunning the scan to ensure that it is finished.

It is. There was no irony meant to be in "I'll consider it." It's not my mother tongue...

I could not really reproduce any hang or slowness (tested 166,000 files). Where/when exactly would you want a counter or similar?

on my side, different systems, it is during that process that it seems to get hung (in appearance) so after 10 minutes or more i will stop it and rerun the process. Many of the times it comes back with no additional findings.

after the search is complete and i select ALL to delete the display (on large data sets) seems to stall. Then after a period of time i sometimes stop the process, research to find that it has deleted everything.

Hmm, cannot reproduce.

Did you maybe enable "Show Folder Sizes"?

Yes, you should... ... you are listing 300,000 items over the network, wonder about delays, and do not mention "network" anywhere, gimme a break...

Definitely my BAD.
Have been in this mode for about a month so it has become a habit to reach across w/o thinking about it.
My apology.
