I have Extra colums now, where do I set the Patent Child relationship as I only want it on the Folder I am current in and not Up of Down the tree?

You would set a Folder View Setting (that applies to columns):

and then set a default view that doesn't include that column etc.

Speaking of Extra columns, here's another tip in case you are not aware of it: you can configure the type of an Extra column. This can speed up entering the data and make it error-safer, and it affects the sorting order of those columns.

Here, for example, a column with a limited set of data, a type called "pop-up list":

Now that you have added the columns, I just noticed something that I thought looked strange in the View | Columns | Show Columns... dialog (fresh), not sure if you think it is worth changing.

Weird, this is what I see (fresh, after enlarging the dialog to see all columns), this exactly how I want it to be:

Very weird... I have tried numerous times and it always shows with that 1 item out of order, everything else is identical to your screenshot though.

Do you see the same order in menu View / Columns?

I activated extra columns 6 and 11, then moved 11 before 6 by dragging the column header. Now View > Columns > Show Columns shows 11 before 6. They retain this order even after hiding one or both columns.

So jupe, just enable extra columns 6, 11 and 12, and manually drag the column header for 11 to before 12. Their order should get fixed then.

I can't see that many menu items in the View | Columns menu, I tried lowering my screen resolution but still couldn't, but if I press the "..." overflow item, or "Show Columns..." they both show it out of order.

My main profile show's the Extra 11 column in the correct place though, unfortunately I can't remember if I moved it manually or not (most likely did) but fresh is always arranged out of order still no matter what I try.

@SammaySarkar: I know how to manually move them, the point I was making is that with fresh, it always displays incorrectly, which I assumed would happen on fresh installs which Don might not want.

Anyway no big deal, it might only be happening to me.

I'd love to understand it. How small is your screen?

My screen is 24", I usually run 120 DPI, here is a full size screenshot of the window as shown in default size (I didn't enlarge it like you did), and the dialog as shown in my usual resolution, I can lower my resolution and take more other screenshots at 100DPI, but it doesn't change much.

I see the same when I don't enlarge it, so I don't think here's an explanation.

No I didn't think the screenshots would help, I guess it'll remain a mystery, hopefully its only me affected, it is only a visual thing anyway.

I love mystery, and solving it. Who knows, maybe it's a gravitational-wave detector. We have to keep an eye on this...

After jupe kindly helped you, I'd like to know: "And? Did it work out? Could this even be an opportunity for saying 'Thank you!'?"
